Our Day Unit admits 10 people per day Tuesday to Friday. Mondays offer individual appointments and bereavement counselling.
Message from Sister Gwen Thomas: “Many people are naturally anxious when Hospice services are first discussed. It is our aim to make those coming to Day Care feel relaxed and supported. Our patients attend the Day Unit for a variety of reasons – specialist medical and nursing care from a full, professional team, the chance to meet others in similar situations or simply to allow their carer some respite for one day a week. All of our Day Unit patients are able to live at home, but benefit from spending a day where they can take advantage of all of the Hospice’s services – physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological support. Our Day Unit is a safe and supportive environment where specialist individual and group care is provided completely free of charge, for adults with a terminal illness. Above all, the Day Unit is a supportive place, tailored to the individuals’ needs. It is important that you are involved and consulted about all aspects of your care, every step of the way. We hope that our patients return home feeling valued, relaxed, cared for and in control of their illness.”
