Annually it costs over £4 million to run the clinical services at St David’s Hospice.

Less than 14% of the funding is received from the Welsh Government and Local Health Board.

  • Each year, St David’s Hospice needs to raise over £4 million to provide its services – amounting to more than £9000 each day
  • We receive £491,918 from the NHS, but we still need to raise at least £2.5 million each year with help from our local community.
  • The total income for the Hospice in 2017 was funded by 14% from NHS contribution and 86% from community fundraising.
  • For every £1 contributed by the NHS, the local community put £7.
  • Local communities and businesses are vital sources of support, with 86% of income coming from donations, legacies, fundraising events, retail and lottery.

Every year St David’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to over 1000 people and their families in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. We could not do it without the fantastic support of local people who give so generously.
£5 would pay for a patient’s meals for a day
£5 would pay for a medical dressing – an essential item for patient care
£10 would pay for arts & crafts material for our Day Care patients to enjoy
£10 would can help pay for a ‘memory box’, which patients create a gift for a loved one
£25 would provide a specialist bereavement support session
£25 would provide a complementary therapy session for a patient or carer, which could include aromatherapy massage and reflexology.
£30 would pay for a morning or afternoon’s care from our support worker
£50 would pay for a selection of aromatherapy oils so patients can enjoy a relaxing therapy at the Hospice
£75 would maintain one pressure relieving bed mattress for one year.
£270 would maintain one syringe driver for one year
£390 would pay for one months’ oxygen supply
£1000 would pay for one oxygen concentrator
£1200 would help to buy a specialist mattress for an Inpatient bed
£1200 would pay for a syringe driver for use by our patients when they need it most
