Hospice Awareness Month 2018

During the month of June, St David’s Hospice is appealing to the community for help and to join the hospice in celebrating ‘Hospice Awareness Month’ which promotes the significant work undertaken by St David’s along with more than two hundred hospices nationwide.

Register today for your FREE pack, this pack will provide you with everything you need to get started with your event, including an array of inspiring ideas, handy tips for hosting your event, and all the practical pointers necessary to ensure your coffee morning is a roaring success.

Hospice Awareness Month is not limited to coffee mornings if you have any ideas such as Zumba Parties, Race Nights, Sponsored Challenges, you name it! The limitation is set only by your imagination. Feel free to get in touch with the fundraising team and share your ideas today.

St David’s Hospice is a local charity, delivering specialist care to local people who are living with advanced illnesses or those in need of end of life care and their families.  Every year, care provided by the Hospice touches the lives of over 1000 people within the local communities of Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey and the Hospice is proud to be one of the few charities which spends every penny received locally, to ensure that the very best services are provided for local patients and their families.

The local adult Hospice offers 24 hour care, 365 days a year providing a clinical service alongside emotional, physical and spiritual support. In the Day Care Unit the Hospice provides patient care, bereavement and counselling services, whilst the Inpatient Unit offers symptom control, respite and end of life care for those with shorter life expectancies.

Care provided by the hospice is completely FREE of charge to the community.  This year however, it will cost more than £3 million to provide all of the hospices services.  Since just 14% of funding is received from the NHS, it means that the Hospice is extremely dependant fundraising the communities it serves to raise the additional 86% which equates to over £2.5 million per year.

For every £1 received by St David’s Hospice, 82p is spent directly on patient care and servicing the Hospice building so that patients can benefit from the very best care environment.  The remaining 18p is invested into generating more funds through income raising initiatives and the retail shops.  For more information about the Hospices work, please visit www.stdavidshospice.org.uk.
