Location : St David’s Hospice, Llandudno

Hours : 35 hours per week

Salary :  £21,000 – £23,000 DOE

Reportable to: Finance Team Leader

Contract: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm (with one hour lunchbreak)

Who we are:

St David’s Hospice is a local charity providing hospice care to adult patients across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. Currently, we have three Hospice sites, a Hospice at Home service alongside 26 retail and café outlets across North Wales.

What you’ll do:

The Finance Assistant is a new role due to the growth of the Hospice in recent months. We are looking for someone who will be;

  1. Responsible for completing control account reconciliations for St David’s Hospice’s creditors and debtors.
  2. Can prepare monthly accruals and prepayments
  3. Able to raise all sales ledger invoices. Carryout credit control function as part of this duty
  4. Report retail discrepancies and liaise with the Head of Retail accordingly.
  5. Providing sales information to Head of Retail on a weekly basis.
  6. Feeding information to support quarterly VAT returns.
  7. Providing information to support production of monthly management accounts.
  8. Completing bank reconciliations
  9. Assisting with production of year end final accounts
  10. Provide information and support to external auditors
  11. Collection of monthly payroll information from department managers and the HR team.
  12. Maintaining monthly master payroll documents and liaising with external bureau to ensure correct employee salaries are paid.
  13. For St David’s Lottery (SDP) and as part of your role you will need to;
    1. Complete bank reconciliations
    2. Creating weekly journals
    3. Completing debtors and creditors control accounts


To do the role you’ll need:

  • Ideally you will have 2 years experience in a similar accounting role
  • AAT L2 or equivalent in terms of qualification
  • Ideally you will have some experience in retail and /or catering and /or charity sectors
  • You will be detail driven
  • Strong communicator and be able to maintain strong interdepartmental working across the Hospice.
  • Empathy for the Hospice, and alinement with the charities values
