Five members of the local fitness training group, Commando X-Fit took part in a 12-hour fitness challenge to show their support for St David’s Hospice, Llandudno

The group, which can often be seen working out on Colwyn Bay Beach in the summer months, did a 12-hour fitness challenge from 8am-8pm to say thank you to the Hospice who cared for their good friend Ed Burke.

The workout, which took place on the 5th July, included all 16 of their ‘T25 Beachbody workouts’ in a row, with only a 15-minute break in between.

They were joined by friends along the way some taking part in workouts, others providing drinks, snacks and encouragement. The group raised £1,450

Dan Harrison from Commando X-Fit said:

“After witnessing the fantastic care that was given to a good friend of mine last year at St David’s Hospice, I decided that I wanted to help with support the charity in any way that I could.

“Seeing as I like to put myself through the mill as often as possible with physical challenges, I thought I’d do something a little bit more intense and use it as a fundraiser.

“The challenge was tough at times but with the combination of the laughs, banter and coffee. The memories of our good friend Ed Burke made it easy to stay strong until the end, despite the blisters, muscle aches and the weather.

“We hope that the monies raised will help St David’s Hospice continue to provide the essential support to patients and their families in their time of need.”

The group are now planning further fundraising activities for the Hospice including a 100 mile (18 lap) cycle around the Orme.
