An annual bowls competition in Craig y Don has helped raised £750 for charity.

Members of the Craig- y-Don and Llandudno Bowling clubs played their annual Hospice Cup bowling competition as a fundraising event for St David’s Hospice.

The event which took place on the 4th of July is now in its tenth year and has raised thousands for local people with advanced illnesses or those in need of end of life care. In addition to the entry fees the members also gave donations and held a raffle.

Craig-y-Don Bowling Club member, Brian Goldsmith, said:

“Many of the members from both clubs have good reason to support the Hospice as friends and relatives have been treated there.

“We are extremely lucky to have the Hospice in Llandudno and we are all aware of the very large amount of money required to cover running costs so we try to help a little by staging this event.”

Conwy Area Fundraiser, James Wilde who thanked the members who took part in the event, said:

“The two teams have been long-time big supporters of ours and to see that record numbers have attended the event just shows that its popularity is growing.

“The money and awareness raised will go a long way towards supporting patients and their families here at the Hospice.”
