CHARITABLE GOLFERS EFFORTS HAVE RAISED THOUSANDS OF POUNDS

When Geoff Butterworth took over as the Men’s Captain at North Wales Golf club, he was determined to continue to support the local Hospice as his charity of the year and raise the much needed funds to support local people who are affected by advanced illnesses and those in need of end of life care.
The charity year was full of fundraising events including the Charity Golf Day back in October. More than 130 members and guests paid to enter teams of four on the day that Storm Brian brought about heavy rain and high winds but spirits were not dampened and an enjoyable day was had by all with the request for the event to be repeated again in 2018.
After what has been a very busy year at the club, Geoff Butterworth was delighted to announce a record total of £6,118.14 raised for St David’s Hospice but was quick to add that although this is in the name of the “Captain’s Charity” credit must be given to the members of North Wales Golf Club for their help, support and generosity.
Geoff said:
“It is the club and its members who deserve the credit in raising this sum. My thanks go to all the members of North Wales and to the fundraising staff of St David’s for all of their help in what has been a great year of fundraising and golf.”
Hospice Corporate Fundraiser Kathryn Morgan-Jones said:
“On behalf of everyone at St David’s Hospice, I would like to say a big thank you to Geoff and his family and all the members at North Wales Golf Club for their wonderful support. The amount raised is absolutely fantastic and the funds will provide the very best hospice care to adult patients from across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.”
