Co-workers Sion Jones and Glen Urquhart took part in their first half marathon raising funds for local end-of-life care after being inspired about the work of St David’s Hospice.

The pair signed up for the RunFest Wales event in June, before which they had only ran 10 miles at the most. They finished 13.1mile event followed the coastal path from Rhyl to Prestatyn and back under 2 hours.

Sion Jones who is the Head of Marketing at JVP Recruitment said:

“It was a tough race on such a hot day, but we both really enjoyed it and we’re thrilled to have finished in under two hours. Everyone who donated spurred us on, it really did give us that extra push towards the end as our legs turned to jelly!

“Glen and I chose to support St David’s Hospice because we’re well aware of the amazing work that the hospice does across North Wales – whilst there’s no personal connection there I have heard from friends about the wonderful support the hospice provides.

“I’d definitely do the race again and I’d encourage anybody who’s thinking of running for the hospice to just sign up today – that’s the most important thing.

“There’s always going to be a reason not to do something, but once you’ve signed up for a challenge those excuses can’t get in the way, go and find a challenge and sign up as soon as you can!”

Conwy Area Fundraiser James Wilde said:

“Thank you to Sion and Glen for raising fantastic funds and awareness for St David’s Hospice.

“Their support will go a long way towards the care offered to both patients and their families here at the hospice.”
