St David’s Hospice is delighted to announce a new Ladies only Afternoon Tea event, which is taking place at an exquisite Cheshire location on Wednesday 26 September 2018.
The day of luxury and relaxation will start with a champagne reception at 11:30am with canape’s and shopping amongst the luxury stalls. Afternoon Tea will then commence with an unlimited supply of tea and coffee. A fully licensed bar will also be available for those wanting to add bubbles to their day.
Following Afternoon Tea will be a talk by the famous author Julie Summers, who’s book Jambusters was the inspiration for ITV’s successful drama series Home Fires which ran for two seasons in 2015 and 2016 and was watched by more than 6 million viewers per episode in the UK alone. Julie is known for her stimulating talks and inspiring words, relating to the Second World War.
When asked what guests can expect from her talk, Julie Summers said:
“My work focuses on ordinary human beings faced with extraordinary circumstances. The Second World War has proved a rich seam and I have written about many aspects of it including evacuees, women on the Home Front, fashion in wartime and, most recently, the stories of country houses requisitioned and used for multifarious purposes”.
In relation to her writing, The Daily Mail described Julie’s writing as “Striking, often heart-warming, but sometimes tragic. They are stories that touch us all, even today”.
Margaret Hollings, Head of Fundraising at St David’s Hospice said:
“We are extremely honoured that Julie Summers is able to attend this event and help us to fundraise for the Hospice at this truly unique event. If you are looking for a midweek getaway with friends, shopping and good food at a very reasonable price, please come along and support us”.
Tickets are just £32.50 for this event, with coach transport being provided from Llandudno at an additional cost of £10.00 per person if required. To book tickets, or for more information, please visit the website: www.stdavidshospice.org.uk/events_calendar or call 01492 873664.
All funds raised from this event will go to St David’s Hospice which provides palliative care services to adult patients living with an advanced illness in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. This year it will cost over £3 million pounds to fund the hospice. With just 16% of this figure coming from The Local Health Board, the hospice is reliant on the communities it serves to raise the remaining £2.5 million pounds per year.
