Nominated by his colleagues, St David’s Hospice Chief Executive Trystan Pritchard has signed up to take part in an adrenaline-fueled challenge in September, along with a team of adventurous Hospice supporters.
The Hospice abseil will see daring fundraisers following in the footstep of last year’s I’m a celebrity camp mates and abseil 120ft down a vertical rock face on Anglesey.

Working for the North West Wales end-of-life care charity for over seven years, Trystan usually keeps his fundraising efforts on the ground or water, such as taking part in fun runs and rowing in the Dragon Boat Challenge. The abseil will take his fundraising to new limits.
Talking about the event 42-year-old Trystan said:
“I am really looking forward to it, it is an exciting way to raise money in support of the patients and families that use our services.
“I don’t really have a fear of heights, more of a fear of missing out sometimes, but maybe this is taking it a bit far. I know it’s being run by a great professional team from Aim Higher and it will be very safe, but for some reason that doesn’t help the nerves! I have only abseiled a couple of very low cliffs and I guess the kids’ climbing wall doesn’t count?
“I know some of my friends and colleagues are taking part so I won’t be alone, but I’ll have to take my inspiration from Jordan North! I’ll need to think of what will be my ‘happy place’!”
The event, which will be at Holyhead’s Breakwater Park, is raising valuable funds for St David’s Hospice, a local charity providing end-of-life care free of charge to the people of North West Wales. In March this year, St David’s opened a four-bed inpatient unit in Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley, Holyhead and has already made huge difference to people’s lives in the local area.
If you are interested in joining Trystan and the Hospice Team, there are slots available on Saturday 4th September, although places are limited so early booking is advised. Registration costs £29 and the minimum sponsorship required is £100. Time slots start from 10am and bookable on registration.
No experience is needed. All entrants for the abseil must be over the age of 12 on the day and all participants are required to complete a medical disclosure form prior to taking part.
