The clinical team at St David’s Hospice will be lacing their walking boots and donning purple tutus in memory of a much-loved colleague and friend.
Allison Cerrato, from Llandudno Junction, worked for over 18 years, as a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) at St David’s Hospice, a local charity providing compassionate end of life care.
Earlier this year she was diagnosed with cancer herself and she sadly passed away in April, spending her final days at the Hospice.
As a fitting way to remember Allison, her colleagues are taking part in the Hospice’s Moonlight Memories Walk, a ladies only 10km sponsored walk around the town of Llandudno.
Healthcare Support Worker Jackie Griffiths, who had worked alongside Allison for many years, said:
“I miss her every day, especially her crazy South Walean quotes! I worked with Ali for 18 years, she was a great friend, she loved working at the Hospice and thought the world of her family.
Over the years we knew each other, we only ever fell out over cream cakes! But we always had a laugh at the end of the day!
“Everyone who knows me, including Ali, knows that I don’t do walking. It will definitely be a challenge for me. We have a team of 15 walkers and we’ll all be dressed in purple, complete with tutus!
“Working on the Inpatient unit, I see first-hand how the donations are spent. The Hospice really appreciates every penny raised through events such as the Moonlight Memories walk. It is so important and means we can continue to give specialist care to local people when they need us most.”
Thanks to the generous support of the local community, the care and support given to patients, their families and carers, is completely free of charge.
