The Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and Wales recently announced that In Memory of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh a fund of £1.25million had been allocated from the Mark Benevolent Fund.
The generous donation is wholly funded by the Fund the official charity of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, the third largest branch of Freemasonry with over 35,000 members worldwide.
Every Mark Lodge throughout England and Wales was encouraged to nominate a local Hospice to receive a donation of £1,000. There are 24 Mark Lodges in North Wales and an outstanding a sum of £24,000 was donated to local Hospices.
A total of £11,000 was nominated for St Davids Hospice, to be allocated to the four sites in North Wales, St David’s Hospice, Llandudno, the Anglesey Satellite Unit in Holyhead, Hafan Menai in Bangor and the Hospice at Home service.
Accompanied by members of the Mark Degree, the Provincial Grand Master of North Wales John Stanley Evans and other members of the Executive, visited the various sites throughout North Wales presenting cheques.
St David’s Hospice Area Fundraising Keri McKie thank them and said:
“We are delighted to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this donation. It has been a very difficult time for our charity and we have seen a shortfall in our income due to covid. This contribution will help us to continue to care for over our patients and their families with life-limiting illness from across North West Wales.
