The challenge will take place on Saturday the 11th September with a group of eight St David’s Hospice supporters, including Chief Executive Trystan Pritchard and Commercial Director Margaret Hollings. The group will be aiming to walk the Welsh 3000’s (15 peaks within Snowdonia) within 24 hours. The challenge involves approximately 30 miles walking and about 13000ft of ascent.
Aged 77, Peter is the oldest member of the group and although is a very keen mountain walker this is quite some challenge.
Peter explained his reason behind taking on the challenge:
‘‘I chose to undertake the Welsh 3000’s as it’s an ideal opportunity to combine my main recreation of mountaineering with fundraising for something very close to my heart. As many of you know Caroline, my wife was cared for so well at St David’s Hospice during the latter part of her all too short life.’’
Peter continued to explain the challenge ahead:
‘‘The Welsh 3000’s is the classic and best walk in Eryri covering some wonderful terrain. It is a walk I have done several times before however I am thoroughly looking forward to undertaking it as part of a team. I know the banter as we move along will be great and I am sure we will support each other to keep our spirits up on what is a very long and hard walk with hopefully very spectacular views en route.’’
‘‘Apart from helping to raise much needed funds for St David’s, I personally will be driven on by the thought of a lovely glass of red wine at the end plus perhaps a pork pie with brown sauce!! I am sure I and the rest of the team will be thoroughly pleased with themselves when we complete the route and what greater satisfaction can there be than generating funds for such a worthy local cause.’
‘‘A very big thank you to everybody who has supported me, it costs so much money to keep St David’s up and running offering the wonderful end of life care they provide.’’
To date, Peter has raised a staggering £2,190 for the Hospice.

‘‘Peter is an extremely valued member of our volunteering community at St David’s Hospice. He has donated endless hours to our charity, in particular his eagerness to help with the newly launched Great Orme Goat Merchandise. His extraordinary fundraising efforts really will make a lasting difference to end of life care in North West Wales.’’
