Volunteers needed to help in Hospice Café

St David’s Hospice is looking for more volunteers to help in its popular café based at front of the Hospice on Abbey Rd in Llandudno.
Opened in 2008, Café Dewi has become a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Serving delicious cakes and refreshments, it is successfully raising much needed funds for the charity.
Lynda Walters, Hospice Admin Assistant said:
“Our hospice has been central to our community for over 17 years and Café Dewi has become a place for them to come and meet friends, enjoy great food and help support the hospice.”
“We have a wonderful team of enthusiastic, friendly volunteers who man our café, providing a warm welcome to all our visitors. Due to our current volunteers relocating, having long term holidays or retiring due to ill health, we now have opportunities for new volunteer café assistants.
No experience is needed; we provide all the training and support needed”.
The volunteer run cafe is a great source of income for the charity, with £68,000 profit raised last year. It costs over £3million each year to deliver the palliative care services at the Hospice on Abbey Rd, Llandudno and over 350 people give their time to volunteer for St David’s Hospice each year.
Lesley Jones from Llanrhos has volunteered since 2012, she added:
“I enjoy the happy atmosphere and the other volunteers I work with. I feel valued and am helping to support our local hospice, which is very important”
The café is located at the front of the Hospice and is open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm. To find out more about days and times available and request an application form please contact Lynda Walters on 01492 879058.
