Tree of Lights

Throughout the year we have been privileged to care for so many wonderful people. Part of this care is to help to create happy moments for patients that their loved ones can cherish forever.

Once again, this year we have delivered a very special kind of care that is so unique to hospices. We have joined our patients to celebrate their birthdays and wedding anniversaries, taken them on trips to the beach, laughed with them as they reminisced about their life journeys, encouraged them as they created beautiful pieces of art, and comforted them when they needed a friend in the early hours.

Caring for patients and families when they are at their most vulnerable is a privilege. We see the benefits of the ‘Hospice Hug’ helping them to cope with what is such a challenging and emotional time. It is lovely to work in such a close team, with everyone’s focus being care for our patients, their families and friends, and each other.

As the year ends, we take time to reflect on the many people that have been in our care. We will be thinking of those left behind, but hoping happy memories can shine through sadness. Honouring the memory of a loved one can be a powerful way to navigate the journey of grief. By reflecting on shared experiences, celebrating their life through meaningful rituals, and finding ways to keep their presence alive in your heart, you can create a lasting connection that brings comfort.

We invite you to remember your loved one this year by making a dedication to them at St David’s Hospice Tree of Lights. Their name will appear as a shining star on our online dedication platform. You may also wish to join us at one of this year’s Tree of Light’s services:
